Baby Bean Update: 28 Weeks

I thought last week was my warm welcome to the third trimester, but apparently there are some discrepancies as far as when the third trimester starts (27 or 28 weeks). So, I'll officially announce that it's finally the third trimester, starting today! I'm really not sure why 40 weeks are split into three trimesters... 12, 13, 14? 14, 12, 13? Does anyone know the real breakdown?

I did the pregnancy questionnaire for two weeks in a row and I kind of hate it. It's a bunch of repeat information each week that really won't change. I guess I'll just go back to my normal quick updates with what's been going on with Bean and me. Let's start with my white legs. Newsflash: They're really white. And after some skin cancer scares, I think I prefer to keep them that way. However, if anyone knows of a great self-tanning product that isn't stinky, doesn't stain sheets, and doesn't streak (magical?), please suggest it in a comment!

I'm still at my parents' house and S and I will make the drive back to North Carolina tomorrow. I think I'm missing home a little bit, but I feel so at home here that it's hard to say. I definitely miss my husband and my bed. Mostly, I miss routine. S and I have been having late bedtimes and early wake times, which make for crummy afternoon times for all. Bean has been moving a lot, but where she was jabbing me before, now, it seems like she's more into rolling around and making long, slow movements. I think she might be working her way out of the breach position, but what do I know? Coffee isn't on my usual schedule, but since I've been on "vacation," I've indulged every other day or so. Bean really likes coffee. Her dance parties definitely prove that caffeine affects a growing baby! One thing that's new this week is that my belly is breaking. Yes, at only 28 weeks, my stretch marks are becoming battle wounds. I've been putting Palmer's Tummy Butter on three times a day and it's barely touching how torn up I'm becoming. Either I have less of a capacity to grow than I did with S or this baby is going to be huge. Or... I'm not 24 anymore.  She's actually growing at the exact rate of her fetal age and is right on target with the measurements. I'm afraid I have to take this moment to come to grips with the fact that I don't have a 24-year-old body this time around. Dang

My brother, S, and I drove up to meet two of my best friends and their respective significant others today. It was so awesome to see Jen and Whitney (and Jim and Tommy!), but I was really sad to only be able to spend a little bit of time with them. Thankfully, I'll see Whitney in a few weeks so we can catch up more. But it'll probably be Christmas time before I see Jen, again. I've been so blessed to be able to see all four of my best girlfriends in the past two months. I'm lucky to see them once or twice a year and I got to see them all in a short period this time! I'm still hoping Jackie and Christina will be able to come stay with me after the baby is born, and that Jen and Whitney won't have to wait too long to visit her! All four of them met S before she was six weeks old!

The above photo is for your viewing pleasure. It's a prime example of what happens when: My brother is taking iPhone pictures and I don't know he's snapping, bugs are flying around my dome, and my back hurts from standing up/sitting down too long (really a win/win there, huh?). So pretty. I just wanted to share a little slice of ultra-reality with you.

Denim & Khaki

I've had this denim jacket for over a year and I think I've worn it once or twice. I never know how to style it, but I just had to have it when I found it in the store. I had all of these hopes and dreams of wearing it with cute sundresses and thong sandals or skirts and boots. But when the moment arrives, my creativity always escapes me.

This outfit is a great example of that, because what's more streamlined than to pair a denim jacket with a t-shirt and chinos? You know what, though? Tried and true just works. I'm pleased with the outcome of the simple look and it was perfect for a morning at church and lunch with friends. I stayed warm in the crisp autumn weather and didn't fall into wearing black pants and a cardigan like I had laying out on my bed before getting dressed. Not that there's anything wrong with that combo- AT ALL. I just like to step out of the norm on weekends since I'm constantly losing my opportunity for creativity while wearing yoga pants and t-shirts during the week!

In other news, we met with some new friends for lunch on Sunday (when I wore this) and I'm so happy to have them in our lives! A & A are wonderful people and I look forward to spending more time with them and furnishing a long-lasting friendship!

Dreaded Shorts

Last Saturday, I went shopping with Hubs, Little S. and my MIL. I was on the hunt for my new New Balance running shoes. You know, since I'm all fitness-y and whatnot. I have been trying to figure out how to style this plain tee for a while. The color is gorgeous and of course, I want to tuck it into every a-line skirt I own. But the fact of the matter is that I also really want to learn how to wear these shorts more.

I really hate shorts.

top: LOFT
shorts: Old Navy
wedges: Lower East Side
necklace: I can't remember
earrings: Charlotte Russe

I was definitely comfortable while shopping in the heat and humidity. It was really nice to be able to pull my hair back and still look a bit dressed up. My usual hair up days include spandex pants, sports bra and a tank top. The wedges made me hate the shorts just a bit less, but I'm still not sold.

I've discovered I'm infinitely powerless when it comes to a plain tee. What would you have done to spruce this outfit up just a bit more?

Intense Adoration: 5.14.11

This week has been a whirlwind adventure for me! My last day working at the university was Wednesday, I had Thursday and Friday off to wrap up loose ends and pretty much do whatever I wanted, and I fell in love with some new things during that time!

Yogurt Covered Raisins
Delicious and {kind of} nutritious, a palm full of these sweet treats keep my ice cream cravings away all day!

Sale Shopping
Clearly, this isn't a new adoration for me, but it became a heck of a lot more intense when my neighbor notified me that we have a LOFT in town. HOW did I not know this for three years? Oy...

LOFT Curvy Trouser Jeans
And the sale shopping led me to these beauties...

Gardening
I fell in love with last summer and yesterday, I weeded the old garden and planted zucchini, sweet basil, three different types of tomatoes and some tomatillos. Our oregano was still going strong from last year. I have NO idea how. Today, I'm weeding the front garden and am going to plant some flowers and add dark mulch.

Crystal Light Pure
All natural and sweetened with truvia, these little drink packets make drinking TONS of water a lot more appealing! Pick them up at your local grocery store in flavors like grape, mixed berry, strawberry kiwi, and lemonade.

That's it for this week's installment of Intense Adoration! I hope you found some things on the list above that you might love or like to try for yourself. Please don't forget to go VOTE for the winner of the Nanny Style Contest! It's up to you to choose!

Through Your Rose Colored Glasses

OUCH!
That's what my eyes feel like, when I look at these pictures.
So, I'm sorry for making your eyeballs hurt, because yes, they are overexposed and blurry.
This, my friends, is what happens when I'm left to my own photography. EVEN with the good camera. Blaming the photographer again...

Thank you, everyone, for all of your sweet "feel better" tweets, yesterday. I know they helped me! Not ONLY was Miss Monthly P trying to kill me, but I also was suffering from some possible virus or food poisoning symptoms... Then again, maybe my P just hates me THAT much. I have a ton of catch-up work to do, today, since I missed work, yesterday. No bueno.
But make sure you head over to our Fab Fashion Bloggers Rockin' Weight Loss yahoo group to get some awesome menu ideas! I'm headed there to add my weekly menu, in a few minutes!

I didn't get a chance to take a photo of Little S., this morning. But I promise to take one this afternoon and post it either on Facebook or here. She and I have matching tights, today! She said, "Momma! Pink tights, too!" So.Freaking.Cute.

Blah zeh, today, huh? Just look at my outfit and get psychadelic. It'll make this whoooole post a lot more interesting. I promise.
