Twi-Mom Sneaks Out

You can probably gather by all of my horrible quality nighttime photos that I don't get out much... and when I do, it's dark outside. Last Friday, I literally snuck out my sliding glass door so as not to wake the kids up with the front door that's closer in proximity to their bedrooms. Bean refuses to take a bottle, so I booked a girlfriend date with Alida (check out her awesome blog!) and we left the sleeping children with their daddies to catch an 11 pm showing of Breaking Dawn part 2. Alida is one of those gorgeous, talented moms that is so sweet that you just fall in love at first conversation. I *had* to wear more than sweatpants.
dress (as skirt): Maurices, sweater: LC Lauren Conrad, tights: We Love Colors, shoes: Maurices, bag: Old Navy
The movie and company were awesome. The baby slept the entire time I was gone and woke up three times within the hour I returned. And my fluffy curls are courtesy of my very first sock bun! Cheers to getting out of the house! Last night, I snuck out, again, to do the Thanksgiving dinner shopping at 10 pm!
I'm so scandalous.

Delicious Dishes

I've been doing the vegetarian thing for about a month and a half, but am just getting into really putting nutritious meals together. Before now, I was just trying not to eat meat... which was difficult and boring without putting some thought into the preparation of my food. My friend, E, made a pasta dish a few weeks ago with angel hair, northern beans, spinach, garlic, and acorn squash. I did a repeat of that last weekend, but have been using beans and spinach as go-tos for almost every meal. The pasta dish I made on Tuesday night was a last minute mash up of pantry and refrigerator staples since I was running low on groceries. I followed up with a delicious, healthy dessert and patted myself on the back for finally being on a roll!
I only measure when baking, so just use however much of each ingredient as you want!
Cook and set aside mezze penne, cooked al dente.
Saute: 1 onion, 1 head of broccoli (chopped into florets), minced garlic to taste, 1 can of chickpeas, a few handfuls of fresh spinach, salt, pepper, and fennel seeds. Toss with pasta and serve with freshly grated reggiano cheese (or a nutty Italian cheese).
I realize that photo doesn't look appetizing at all, but trust me when I tell you that it's like a little slice of Heaven!
Combine: 1 diced apple, a few dashes of cinnamon, 1-ish teaspoon nutella, a generous handful of homemade granola (I made this and added cocoa powder).
For real. Make it.

Sew Cute Baby Things!

I just sent out a really awesome and fun order for a baby shower that's coming up this weekend. I had such a great time with this because I got to use tons of my new fabric and all of the colors were awesome. Just wanted to share the finished products! I hope the new momma and baby love them as much as I loved making them! If you're interested in these types of handmade products, please visit my facebook page:
side note: I didn't enhance any of these pictures- but my flash went off on some and not on others. That's why my floor looks like two different floors!

Nursing cover
 Nursing pads
 Receiving blankets
 Cloth wipes/washcloths
 Contoured burp cloths
Thanks for letting me share!

Mom on the Go

There are some days that I look in the mirror and feel like a total Mom. I guess this is one of those days. I even pinned the neckline of my top so that I didn't show too much cleavage. Seriously? I never used to care! These coconuts have a little too much milk, though. I don't really want to share with anyone... outside of this house, anyway. I adore my mustard cardigan more than almost any other piece in my wardrobe, but it just doesn't look good on me! It's not *so* bad with my skin as much as it totally clashes with my hair. It's time to do another process and get that hair darker, though. Maybe it'll look better on me in December.
Top: Motherhood (shh, I can't bear to get rid of it), jeans: Old Navy, cardigan: Agar, flats: Target
I hope everyone's doing well! It's time to go do some more sewing and feeding of the crying babe.

I do want to pitch an idea, though! Because I've had a total lack of motivation when it comes to getting dressed, lately, I was thinking of doing a little weekly project. Basically, I'd be your paper doll, if you're interested. I'm going to pick five blogger outfits and post them on Mondays. Then you vote on one and I'll recreate it to the best of my ability that Friday. What do you think? It's a copycat project, so even though I wouldn't be coming up with super original ideas, I think it'd help me get back in the swing of wearing more than yoga pants! And of course, I'll put my own spin on things! Let me know in a comment below if you'd be interested in something like that!

My Mom is Blogging This Giveaway

Sad (and exciting!) news... Bean never, ever got to wear this onesie. She just grew way too quickly and I didn't take the opportunity to photograph her in it, just for kicks. Because I worked so hard on sewing the little lace tutu and my sweet MIL found the perfect matching, glittery letters to screen print this baby, I can't bear to let it go to waste. If you are or a friend is expecting a little girl and you can't resist this adorable statement onesie (and headband!), this giveaway is for you! The onesie is Faded Glory, size 0-3 months and is embellished with teal lace trim and teal glitter wording. The onesie has been washed in Purex Baby Hypoallergenic.
All you have to do is leave a comment letting me know if this would be for your baby or a friend's baby! It's just too hilarious not to pass along!
Giveaway is open to US readers, only.
Ends Friday, November 16, 11:59 ET.

Girly Things

If you didn't know, I make little baby stuff. Necessities like burp cloths, receiving blankets, nursing covers, nursing pads, etc... can be found in my shop, Bitty Bug Designs. I also make newborn, child, and adult headbands. I just completed the cutest dang order, ever, and had to share!

One for fun, one for Thanksgiving, and one for Christmas. Stinking fluffy and adorable.
If only my kids would wear headbands...
The best thing about this order was that it was for a friend from high school's new baby girl! I love reconnecting over sweet little baby girls and pretty things! Hope you guys get to enjoy them!

Shoot me an email at bittybugdesigns@gmail.com or post a comment/message on the Bitty Bug facebook wall to place your holiday orders!

Mmm Monday - Pizza

On Friday, I wanted pizza so badly. But, I didn't want to pay for it or eat crap. So, I made my own! Little S doesn't dig stuff on her pizza, so I made 1/3-ish cheese just for her and Husband and I shared the rest. I made the sauce, too! YUM.
The grown-up side is mozzarella with grape tomatoes, mini sweet peppers, banana peppers, feta and oregano. Flavor fireworks. Yep.

You Knotty Barbie

Errands called for a bit more than my sparkly star jammie pants today. Not much more, but an upgrade to jeans, nonetheless. Clearly, I'm not a Barbie, but you get it, right? One of these days, I won't share my laundry line and I'll figure out the settings on my camera, but today isn't that day.
sweatshirt and tank: Old Navy, jeans: Charlotte Russe, shoes: TOMS
I'm loving this messy knotted bun! Just pull your hair up in a ponytail at the desired height (mine fell a bit throughout the day, so this is lower than I'd planned), tie your pony in a knot, and secure with a few bobby pins. Super easy, functional and sort of cute, even!
Hope everyone's weekend is going well!

Feeling Blue

Not really, actually. It's the first day of the Holiday Season and I'm hyped up! If you've been a long-time reader, you know I'm one of those annoying people who believe that Thanksgiving is in the Christmas season and I start playing Bing's "White Christmas" on November 1. I love celebrating Thanksgiving, giving thanks, and teaching my little one(s) about thankfulness and the first Thanksgiving. However, I think Christmas music, colors, decoration, and the TRUE MEANING of the day is so joyous and happy that I want to draw it out as long as I can. I can't blame me.
In other news, I got dressed again. Two days in a row? I think I need an applause. I didn't even know that I'd be going anywhere except to drop S off at school, but I ended up hanging out with a friend and going to lunch with her and all of our kids. Not that I'd ever have ANY kind of problem going places in yoga pants and a sweatshirt. I do it all the time. But even if I'm not looking my best, there's something to be said about the outlook of my day correlating with the effort I put in to get dressed in the morning.
Apparently, this is how I look when I'm trying to figure out the timer on my camera... Cute.
sweater: Old Navy, tee: Target, jeans: Old Navy, shoes: from Whitney
Why do people look down/away from the camera for blog pictures? I think I need to learn some posing skills. I'm totally out of practice and don't think I ever knew how to do it, before.
Glad to be back! My glamorous life (ahem, crying baby and laundry) calls!

Check out an awesome giveaway at my friend, Alida's, blog for her gorgeous Nautical Diva tee! Ends tomorrow, so go NOW!
