The Shoes We Wear

Do you think your shoes say a lot about you? During this pregnancy, I've been wondering if my shoes speak as many words as I think they might. On the days I'm brave enough to wear heels, I wonder if people think that I'm going to be a chic mom who doesn't care how much I've got going on- I'm going to look good. If I slip on some flats or flip-flops, do people think I'm lazy? Or they might say, "Poor girl. She must be so uncomfortable."

During one of my daily battles with what shoes to wear and what they say about me as a woman, a mother, and someone who's expecting a second child, I was introduced to Littlewoods. When I was contacted, I thought the company mainly focused on shoes, so I was really excited! Fortunately for me (and everyone else shopping online), they are a one-stop-shop for women's, men's, and children's clothing plus a little bit of everything else. My favorite kind of place! But I'm here about shoes, right?

Here are some that I have on my wishlist for this summer and after I have little Miss Bean. Obviously, think comfort (AND chic) for the still-pregnant months and then think Megan for after the baby is born!

Coleen Phuket Embellished Toe Post Sandals

Chinese Laundry Fiction Platforms

Dune Fancy Corsage Sandals

South Cosette High Leg Wedge Boots

South Oilbird Monoraffia Wedge Sandals

Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars

If you're like me and are constantly wondering what your shoe choices say about you, try a pair of kickers from Littlewoods! I'd definitely encourage you to at least check the site out if you're looking for tons of options in one place!

*Disclaimer: After more research from a loyal reader, Littlewoods does not ship to the United States. Feel free to look at their pretty things if you're a U.S. resident, but don't get too attached! So sorry about the inconvenience. I was so excited!

Project Self: Kicks

It has been a TOUGH week. Between last Friday and today, I've been through the ringer. Perhaps it was the special woman time that mother nature delivered JUST in time for me to travel to my in-laws' for a hectic holiday weekend. Or maybe it was blown up when I paid our car payment on Saturday and Husband paid it on Sunday. Oops. Or it could have been Little S.' sleepless nights with strep. I don't know... combination, I suppose.

I DID RUN, though.
And I also had a giant bowl of Edy's Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup ice cream on Tuesday night.

Highlight? I got my new running shoes at the New Balance factory store last Sunday and I couldn't be happier. I've had such good luck with New Balance over the past few years. My pretty pink and white running shoes have been worn to the bones, though, and were giving me blisters. It was time for a new pair and I'm glad I made the investment.

Please excuse my less than attractive somewhat ankles. I'm working on it.
The only thing I really don't love about these shoes is the blue. I'm not a blue fan at all. Two colors I don't love are blue and red. I tried these babies on with magenta accents, but they didn't have my size. And as much as I love color, I had to choose the whole "walking on a cloud" feeling over looks. After trying to run two years ago and having a six week knee injury that put me out of the game, I know I have to really be prepared for putting miles on these feet.

Another great investment? Miss Zoe! She keeps me going on our walks/runs! I know she gets cooped up all day and if I feel like quitting halfway through a workout, a little tug on that leash reminds me that I'm not the only one who needs and appreciates a little cardio! I've really enjoyed exercising with my little furry companion. She went to the vet this week, by the way, and she's the healthiest puppy!

Nanny Style Contest Winner!

Thank you all for participating in the Nanny Style Contest, whether you submitted an outfit set or helped choose the winner! The winning outfit was #3, submitted by Marie-Eve of A Pretty Nest!

Here is the outfit she submitted:

I own this LC top already, so that's great. And as far as the shoes go, I tried them on at Old Navy over the weekend and as cute as they are in the photo, they look like old lady shoes on my feet. No can do, but I'll find something suitable. I decided to go with jeans and a polka dot tee for my first day and I've learned my lesson, already: photos must come BEFORE work. I'm disheveled, but happy! Teeny tiny baby S was a gem and I get to have all three of the S kids, tomorrow. Their mom warned me that today was as easy as it gets and tomorrow might be a nightmare. I'm up for it. I felt guilty leaving, today, because it was like I didn't do anything. Feed and play with a baby for only four hours? Um, yes, please! Tomorrow is 9 hours and I have baby in the morning and all three kids in the afternoon. I have a pair of navy chinos that I hardly wear (because they look too much like jeans), so I think I might just crop them to these walking shorts' length and find a good, strong, sturdy bracelet. Shoes are the big mission. I'm thinking my navy and light blue polka dotted flats in place of the shoes in Marie-Eve's set. As much as I prayed they'd be perfect, they just looked awful on me!

Congratulations Marie-Eve! Please email me at kimberly.s.parham(at)gmail(dot)com to tell me where you'd like your $25 gift card from and for your address!

Thanks, again, to all who submitted. :)
Back with an outfit in the morning!
