Teal Takeover for Ovarian Cancer Awareness

Teal is hot this season for more than one reason. Jewel tones for fall? Yes, please. But September is also Ovarian Cancer Awareness month and I'm wearing teal to support the cause! My friend, Crystal, wears teal for her grandma, and she brought this month's mission to my attention. I'll be back with some facts on Monday. Today, though, I'm wearing my teal (I don't have much of it, but I plan to change that!) with pride and I hope you will, too.

Excuse my awesome photo quality. My camera was lopsided on my adirondack chair on the front porch and the lens was all fogged up from the intense humidity. One of these days, I'll figure out how to snap my own outfit photos. It's {pretty far down} on my to-do list.  

In other news, I felt pretty in-tune with the mombots this morning.

One Man's Trash

Sometimes your friends buy clothes and they don't fit. Then you inherit the clothes. Enter this beautiful and colorful Charlotte Russe top that my bff, Jackie, passed down to me over the weekend. Although I was sad that things didn't work out for her, I was elated that they turned into good fortune on my part. This baby had a tie waist, which I just cut off so I could add belts for shape wherever I wanted (lower or higher). The weather was warm enough to not have to wear a sweater or jacket last night, so I got dressed for bible study and knew I could pull this shirt off without having to cover the pretty sleeves with a cardigan (although, that would work too!)

Husband was playing with indoor lighting and the flash since it's so dark outside when he gets home these days. Although the flash washes me out, I think it's probably the best indoor option. The rest are grainy and I really can't dig that.

Shopping is My Drug

Guess what? My name is Kimberly and I'm addicted to shopping.

No, seriously, my friends I have a problem. I've been to Old Navy three times in the last week and a half and I won't tell you how much I've spent. And on Tuesday night, I had a wonderful experience shopping at Greenville's new maurices in the mall! More on that- including lots of exciting news, later. Let's just say I have a lot more clothes than necessary for wearing during my off-work time. And if I hear you tell my husband that, we aren't friends anymore. The last thing he needs to hear is that I have too many clothes that I probably won't get the chance to wear more than once every other month. (Hey, babe.)

Needless to say, when we go shopping, we like to look pretty and feel good about ourselves, right? Who wants to go try on clothes when they feel like a schlup? NOT me. So, I came home at 5:20, hopped in the shower, shaved my legs, dried and straightened (yes, again) my hair, did my make-up, and put on one of my new favorite outfits (note: only the top is actually *new*). And man, I must have felt good in this outfit, because I set myself up for some serious spending damage! And for the record, maurices provided me with the perfect pair of new jeans. And they are capris. Except not on me! HAH!

Ooo, I may or may not have (definitely did) gotten the best little black skirt that would look absolutely fab with this top. I love scheming outfits in my head. But I'm still thinking wavy/curly hair might be more becoming. Or not...

Dreaded Shorts

Last Saturday, I went shopping with Hubs, Little S. and my MIL. I was on the hunt for my new New Balance running shoes. You know, since I'm all fitness-y and whatnot. I have been trying to figure out how to style this plain tee for a while. The color is gorgeous and of course, I want to tuck it into every a-line skirt I own. But the fact of the matter is that I also really want to learn how to wear these shorts more.

I really hate shorts.

I was definitely comfortable while shopping in the heat and humidity. It was really nice to be able to pull my hair back and still look a bit dressed up. My usual hair up days include spandex pants, sports bra and a tank top. The wedges made me hate the shorts just a bit less, but I'm still not sold.

I've discovered I'm infinitely powerless when it comes to a plain tee. What would you have done to spruce this outfit up just a bit more?

Awkward & Awesome Thursday: Therapy & Florals

There's a good chance that I'm going to need therapy to get through next week.
Let's just leave it at that.

I may or may not be wearing a dress I've kind of been DYING to own, today. Thanks to my sweet friend Rachel, of State of My Heart, a dress I'd been drooling over from Forever 21 finally became mine. And I'm so in love, it's not even funny. How perfectly Spring is this baby? THANK YOU, Rachel!

Holy colors, right? More, please!

Awkward:
- Coming to work when everyone knows you're leaving. And it seems like they're happy about it.
- Dropping Little S. off at daycare and making small talk with her provider for the first time in two years. Because she's mad. Or sad. Or something.
- Talking to my trashcan, telling it to take photos at a better angle this morning. Yep. That happened.
- Waking up in the middle of the night to get water and not remembering how the cup of water made it to my bedside table upon waking up.
- My skin. And how it hates me. But I can't figure out why.

Awesome:
- Learning that sometimes it's okay to not please everyone when you're doing what's right for yourself.
- Chasing dreams. And catching them.
- Watching my daughter read all of the letters on four different recycle bins, yesterday.
- My homemade chicken pot pie.
- Amazing amounts of support from my friends and family about my new endeavor.
- The sweet contest I've got going on where you get to STYLE ME for my new job!

Shine and the Sand

On a happy note, the weather's been fantastic all week long! If you know me well enough, you know that this is the kind of weather I can dig. I don't mind being freezing cold, but it's not preferred. And severe heat and humidity? Gag me with a spoon. This skin and hair weren't made to deal with such conditions. But give me mid 70s, sunny, and medium humidity, and I'm a happy girl.

This particular outfit was completely inspired by Collette's Weekend Jean Lover post. Granted, this outfit wasn't worn on a weekend, I still loved the idea of cuffed jeans and a cute sweatshirt, spruced up with some classic warm-weather heels.

The sand by my office parking lot looked so inviting. I almost wanted to take my shoes off and squish my toes in it! But, we're nowhere near the beach, this is a college campus (so the chances of broken bottles or pee remnants are high), and I actually liked these shoes way too much to take off!
