About Me

I'm Kimberly!
Most categorize me as a 20-something mom to my gorgeous daughter, Little S., a wife to the consistently loving Hubs, a daughter, sister, and friend.
I started Fashion Momma as an outlet and teaching tool for myself. I wanted to hold myself accountable for dressing my post-baby body in something other than old scrubs and sweats!
I work full-time as a nanny for three children, ages 8 months, 2.5 years, and 4 years, plus my daughter.
I love to sing but am no less than terrified to do it in front of people. Being on stage used to be a rush, but having an audience of 2 or 200 is the most terrifying feeling in the world.
I was a cheerleader from ages 7 to 16 and only stopped when I broke my wrist doing a ridiculous stunt on a trampoline- at a birthday party, I might add.
I'm only 4'11" and I've struggled with being the shortest in my family and group of friends my whole life. I don't feel badly about myself because I'm short. I just feel badly about shopping for a dress that I have to hack 1/3 of the length from the bottom!
I personally think I should only have to pay for 2/3 of the dress!

I believe in God and my faith has gotten me where I am in my life.
I don't believe in perfection. I believe in being a perfect fit for where you are.
I believe in spending as much time as possible with family.
They are the roots from which I grow.
I believe in telling myself that I am worthy and beautiful.
Every. Single. Day.

Above all, I believe in believing.
Believing that we deserve the best.
Believing that we should push ourselves to always do better.
Believing that we can love and ARE loved.
Believing that pretty clothes and shoes DO make us feel good.
Believing that real self love comes from the heart.
Believing that we should nourish not only our bodies, but our souls.

Welcome to my little corner.
I hope you find yourself at home, here.

You asked. I answered.

1. How tall are you?
I'm an Amazonian 4'11". ish.

2. What is your favorite healthy snack?
Easy! Braeburn apples all sliced up and dipped in all natural peanut butter!

3. How do you know you've kept something in your wardrobe for too long?
LOVE this question! If I haven't worn it for two seasons (two winters, two summers, etc.), it's time for the Goodwill pile.

4. What's your favorite outfit you've worn?
I'd have to say it's this one. I don't know why, but I felt powerful and sassy! And you know how I love my tights!

5. Have you struggled with weight your entire life?
I wish I could answer this with a simple yes or no, but it's a little more difficult than that. The shortest version of an answer is sort of. I was a little bigger than average in elementary school, but I didn't really know it until 6th grade. And when I started cheerleading and exercising every day, I was very fit but never skinny. As a swimmer and cheerleader, I was thick and had big muscles and was very strong. As soon as I quit cheering, I ballooned up. Every time I work hard at losing weight, I'm pretty successful, but it's not easy for me to get small.

6. Is Husband making a healthy transformation with you?
He's working on it!

7. Once you have reached your weight loss goal what is the one fashion item or trend that you will sport that you have always wanted to but never felt you could?
A BIKINI!!!!

8. How do you juggle all the things you do (parenthood, exercise, healthy eating, work, pet care, personal style)?
If I had the answer to this, I'd write a book and make millions of dollars.
But I don't. My answer is that my house might get a little messy from time to time. I used to be the spawn of Martha Stewart. I'm not kidding- ask my friends and family. I vacuumed up to three times a day! Now, I've realized that having a pristine house all.the.time isn't nearly as important as cooking a healthy meal or spending the evening with my family!

9. How did you meet Husband?
We met in college! I was picking up a friend for a Halloween party and he was doing laundry in the dorm where she lived. I thought he was really cute and she swapped our AIM names. I didn't actually "meet" him right then, but that's when I set eyes on him and decided I wouldn't quit 'til he was my man!

10. What's been the biggest adjustment with all the life changes you've taken on recently?
Honestly, the biggest adjustment has been realizing that it's OKAY to be totally different than I was a few months ago.

11. How has blogging affected the way you act in real life (if it did/does)?
I think I'm more proud of myself because I get to write and be creative, again. The blog has given me a place to really be myself and share myself with an open-minded community and I think in turn, I'm more real in all aspects of life. I'm just happy to share my story and have people that want to read it!

12. Are you enjoying nannying as much as you had hoped?
YES! The truth of the matter is that it's the hardest work I have EVER done in my life. But it's also the most rewarding! The kids are precious and crazy, smart and snotty. Mine included. It's good training for my future! And I'm impacting young minds (hopefully in a good way). PLUS, I get to be with Little S. all the time. I can't really complain.

13. Is there a style or clothing trend you wish would just go away?
Not really... Trends really go away in their own time and I think that every style has a person that can pull it off. Now, I'd never wear cargo skinny pants. I think they're hideous. But put 'em on a lady with long skinny legs and she'll probably rock them!

14. What got you started in the blogging world?
My daughter! I was falling into that new mom rut, wearing t-shirts and sweatpants all the time and letting my hair get crazy. I started the blog to keep myself accountable for taking care of myself after I became a momma.

15. How on earth do you have time to blog while being a full-time nanny and mother?
Hah! Great question. I stay up waaaayyyy too late. S'pose that'll catch up with me one of these days.

16. Do you have any repetitive dreams? If so, what are they and what do you think they mean?
Well, I don't really have dreams that I remember, lately. But when I was pregnant, I dreamt almost every night that we had bears breaking into our house and stealing food from the refrigerator and pantry. They weren't violent toward me, but they didn't want me in their way while they were on the raid. I have no idea what it meant! Maybe that another being was about to take over my life?

17. What are three things on your "bucket list?"
- Go to Venice
- Become a runner
- Record a Christmas album

18. What's your favorite place to shop and why?
I'll have to be boring and say Target. It's the lighting, the setup, the smells, the prices, and alllll the pretty products!

19. How hard has it been to integrate exercise into your new, healthful life?
It's REALLY HARD. I told my husband last night, "If you think I'd rather be running and eating salads than lounging on the couch with cheetos and ice cream, you are wildly misinformed." Seriously, it's HARD. But I know I have to do it!

20. Are you a natural blonde?
Yes! My best friend is a hair stylist (who's about to go to law school! GET IT!) and has dubbed me blonde in real life. Albeit, I'm a darker shade of blonde, it's real life blonde.
