Little S' ROOM!!!

I'm so, so, so sorry I've been MIA all week! Between working, Little S' birthday, finding out the gender of Bean, finishing her room, rearranging our whole house, doing S' third year check-up, about 10 loads of laundry, and preparing for her birthday party this weekend, I just didn't make time to blog! Eek! Alas, her room is (pretty much) done. Other than one stuffed animal swing that I have to make (I ran out of the purple ribbon), the valance I'm going to hang (I just found the rod!), and the canvases that Husband and S are going to paint together for above her bed, it's basically finished. I was so happy her bedding came ON her birthday! She hasn't had any transition as far as sleeping in her new room and big girl bed. It's been absolutely AWESOME. So, here it is!

What do you guys think? I am so pleased with the bedding and the box spring (and look at the little feet!). S picked out the lamp and green pillow and we hadn't picked out bedding, yet. Because we ordered the bedding online, I was really nervous about the colors not working how I'd hoped, but everything just came together like it was meant to be! My favorite part is still definitely the striped wall. I also love the lime lantern we put above her window.

As you know, S turned three on Tuesday! We also had a big ultrasound for Baby Bean that day and S found out that she's going to have a baby SISTER! We are thrilled! We took a few photos on her birthday/the day we found out. Excuse my outfit. I was going for comfort in the almost-70-degree-weather and I wanted to wear a dress, but then I'd have to pull it all up and be awkward during the ultrasound. FYI: for an ultrasound, always wear something with a waist so you can just pull it down ever so slightly.

tank: Target
sweater: Old Navy
skirt: I made it from a dress (from Target)
boots: Soda brand from Shoe Department

Tomorrow's Little S' third birthday party! I can't tell if I'm excited or not.
But I'll be back to tell you all about it on Monday (with a meal plan)! Hope you have a great weekend!

Work it Wednesday: LIttle S' Room is Turquoise!

I cannot tell a lie. I didn't really "work it" at all when it came to sanding, priming, and painting S' room. Husband won't let me around the fumes and... well, he's a perfectionist.
I'm also so sick I can barely stand up without holding onto something.

Nonetheless, the room is finally painted turquoise!
Er... Aqua Glow.
The white stripes still need to be painted Ultra White. Right now they're just white primer over the old pink walls. They'll be a lot brighter when they're done!

My original pick was Grand Hotel Mackinac Blue and I'm glad we took the plunge and chose the deeper hue. The color looks awesome and totally hooks you every time you walk by in the hallway.

(he's going to kill me for that one)

We hope to have S in her bedroom by this weekend. There's still some touching up to do after painting the white stripes. I bought the bedding over the weekend and it should arrive sometime next week (hopefully before Work it Wednesday!). If we don't have the bedding, yet, I'll take a picture of the components all put in a pile together, but no finished room photos until every piece is here! Husband and I (and I mean mostly I) finished the beautiful boxspring over the weekend, too. It's awesome. Can't wait to make a matching valence! I'm so uber jealous of this room, it's not even funny.

What do you think of our bold color choice for Little S' big girl room?

p.s. - AHEM, someone's bedroom matches her mommy's blog.
SOMEONE likes turquoise.

Work It Wednesday: Little S. Room Headway

Last week, I shared the monstrosity that was Little S.' room pre-organization. It was a bit embarrassing and I actually shocked myself a little by letting it get that bad. Thankfully, it's my short week at work and when I got off at one yesterday, S. and I went full speed ahead on organizing, packing up old toys/clothes, and making room for... well, a new room.

Obviously, we haven't started the re-construct, but now I can actually SEE what is there and what needs to be done. Thankfully, S. was very cooperative and super ready to part with several of the toys that were taking up so much space!

What I did:
- moved the rocking chair and changing table out of the room
- packed up all 2T and 3T clothing (she's in mostly 4T!)
- packed up 50% of the toys in the room
- reorganized the drawers and closet
- put the toy box in the closet

Excuse my finger. S' name is on her door, so I was blocking it out!

There's still lots of work to do and Hubs made an awesome spreadsheet with all of the items we need, itemized and priced. So now, we're prepared to move forward and painting is happening this weekend!

Work It Wednesday: Little S. Room Inspiration (and some plans)

So, hey. The inconsistency is probably irking the heck out of you, right? Me, too.
I sat down, yesterday, and decided to really DECIDE if I was blogging for me or blogging for other reasons. Seeing as other reasons for bloggers to blog might include money and I don't make any, I'm definitely blogging for moi. Glad we got that squared away. That said, I am pregnant, exhausted, and completely absent-minded. I quite literally want to kiss the feet of all of the working or schooling pregnant women who have kept up with their blogs full-force. If I was a SAHM, which ahem I will be very soon, I would dedicate a certain portion of my day to blogging. Right now, that time has to be evening and frankly, after working 9 straight hours with 4 toddlers, my evenings consist of making dinner and crashing. Hard. And you know what? That makes me SAD. I miss blogging regularly, so Self (that's me) and I (me, again) decided to make a blog schedule to help Absent Minded Momma (also me - p.s. did I tell you pregnancy splits my personalities?). Admitting there's a problem is the first step and asking for help is the second. I admit that I'm behind and I'm asking myself for some assistance.

So, here's what this means for all of us - We all knew when I changed my blog name from "Fashion Momma" to "A Little Bit of This" a few months ago that I'd be stepping away from basking in the glory of my wardrobe. I mean, I still love getting dressed and it's super important to me. But let's be real, in my line of work, looking nice is just about the thing AFTER the last thing on the list of things to do/worry about. Weekends are my runway. I plan to take better note of them. Otherwise, here's how the schedule will go:

Meal Plan Monday
I'll go over our meal plan for the week (Mon-Sun) and one recipe.
Tuesday
Formerly "Trendy Tots Tuesday," I still plan on making this a day about Little S.
Work It Wednesday
Our house is going to be going under some serious changes over the next year or so. First on the list is Little S.' room since she's giving her furniture to Bean and is getting a big girl room for her third birthday this month. I'll be sharing either projects I'm working on with the house or otherwise.
Things I Love Thursday
I'll share things I'm loving from the week.
Friday
A free day - probably for an outfit, make-up, hair or accessory post.
Saturday
My pregnancy weekly measurements begin each Saturday, so I'll take Saturdays to share how I've been feeling during the week and post a gratuitous belly shot to keep track of my (enormous) growth. I'll also talk about things we're doing to prepare for Bean, etc.

So, it's Wednesday. Let's get started on the inspiration for Little S.' major room makeover! I'm so excited and although my vision's a bit hazy as far as where we are and where we're going, I have a great color palette and some furniture ideas. My biggest struggle is this: Little S.' room will double as our guest room since Bean is taking over our current guest room. So it has to be inviting and spacious, but still fun and pretty for a little girl. We'll also be in this house for A LONG TIME, so we have to make a room that will grow with our girl. I'll show ya what we're 'twerkin' with first.

I'm actually immensely embarrassed to show you those photos because S' room kind of exploded post-Christmas. We haven't really unpacked (hence duffle bags) or put away the clean laundry... or toys since we got home because it's been my intention every weekend to start getting rid of things and storing clothes that don't fit (ie: 80% of the clothes in her room). But then, I don't make time. And that's that. So here's where I sort of want to go with the room.

We're also giving S. the guest bed so we don't have to get rid of it (nowhere to store it, either), which means she'll be going from toddler bed to a full. And we're a bit concerned about the falling out thing, although she pretty much wakes up in the same position she falls asleep in. We were thinking about putting the box spring directly on the floor, but that would really mess up the carpet, so I absolutely fell in love with this idea.

I really want to peg the bottom with shorter pegs and tightly cover the box spring with a turquoise and white or lime and white fabric (probably not striped since we want to stripe one wall) and use chic white under bed storage. What do you think of the plans so far?
