Dressed by Rochelle

You know your friend has great taste in clothing when you put together an outfit and realize later in the day that more than one piece was chosen, bought, and gifted by that person. I have Rochelle to thank for the obvious statement piece of this outfit and the necessary black heels (that I did not own until she gave these to me for my birthday last year!).

I told you all that the weekends are my runway and I really enjoy taking my time to pick out outfits and look nice for church. Blazers are going to be a big part of my "dress up" wardrobe since I can keep them open and still look pretty polished. The unexpected cream hue of this particular blazer is perfect to play up any outfit during all of the seasons!

top: Old Navy
cami: Rue 21
blazer: Thrifted and gifted by/from Rochelle
pants: Motherhood Maternity
heels: Ross, gifted by/from Rochelle

That last one's just in case you were wondering
1) what the top of my head looks like
and/or
2) what color my roots really are.

Black, White, & Red All Over

When one does not get dressed often, one finds it necessary to put on some red lips. One = me, by the way. I bought my very first red lipstick, ever, and I'm sort of obsessed. I had no idea how blue my eyes would look with red lips! And I feel so Christmas-y! Or... perhaps that's the undecorated tree behind me.

lipstick: Jet Setter by Rimmel

sweater: New York & Company
skirt: Thrifted
booties: Payless
handbag: Dama Handbags, giveaway win from TFD

I realize I haven't been much of an outfit poster lately and I'm working on changing that! It really is tough when I don't have many reasons to "get dressed." So many stay-at-home-moms have told me that when they stay home, they really do dress to impress and I hope I can do the same when I start staying home in March. However, when I'm caring for four toddlers, ages 1, 2, 3, and 4, and doing dishes, preparing meals, cleaning up all the time, I swear it's yoga pants, sweats, and t-shirts. So once I begin staying at home and caring for one toddler, cleaning up, preparing meals, oh... and throw taking care of two dogs in there, we'll see if I can manage. In the meantime, I'll be sure to photograph EVERY single weekend outfit I ever wear. Okay, I'll try really hard!

And in case you were missing Little S. -

Obviously, she's missing you, too!
If you need to do some holiday shopping or holiday decorating, I know a GREAT PLACE.

It's the Thought that Counts

I have to tell you the truth.
I'm not really wearing this.
But I was... I got dressed this morning, took Little S. to daycare, and then, on my way to work, something bad happened. I had some severe cramping that turned into a sharp pain in my chest.
I had to pull over...
And then I called my husband, boss, and doctor. In that order.
Then I called my dad.

I had an EKG and it came back fine. My blood pressure was skyrocketed. I don't know if it was high from the cramping I had or from freaking out about it- probably a combination of both.
Long story short- they're sending off some blood to do a bunch of testing, I have severe anxiety still, and I'm taking the remainder of the day off to rest and re-evaluate some things. Doctor's orders. Promise.

In theory, it was going to be a very pink and green, southern prep, cute day.
And now, I'm in my Old Navy grey jersey pants, yellow ribbed tank, and turquoise sweatshirt.
Here's to you, Old Navy, for providing the best lounge clothes, ever.

satin and chiffon blush top: H&M
green, yellow, and pink tweed skirt: Thrifted
nude wedge sandals: Target
necklace: Banana Republic, gifted by ML
bracelet: gifted by Rochelle

It's the thought that counts, anyway, right?
I'm not tweeting or reading blogs 'til later tonight or this weekend. I haven't watched the royal wedding, yet, and I don't want it to be spoiled! Hope you all understand.
Now, I'm crawling into my bed with some hot tea and my laptop.
It's writing time.

Hope you all have a nice Friday and weekend!

Awkward & Awesome Thursday!

 tunic (skirt): Handmade & thrifted
jeans: Charlotte Russe
sandals: Target
belt: Target

Awkward:
- thinking I would be comfortable wearing a strapless top to work
- deciding to curl my hair in extreme heat, humidity, and wind
- putting my personal creative writing out there for all of you to read and being that vulnerable
- the photo above that actually makes me look like I have to pee
- trying to make small talk to avoid silence and being completely shut down
- getting dressed in the morning and Little S. looking over while I'm half nakie, saying, "Momma! GET DRESSED! Nakie bum!"
*actually, that was adorable and kind of awesome*

Awesome:
- the fact that tomorrow is Friday AND I get to see my momma!
- I'm actually ALLOWED to wear strapless to work.
*even though I totally have a deep royal purple cardigan on, now*
- visiting sweet family this weekend
- coming to a huge realization last night (Separation)
- realizing that dreams might actually have a way of coming true

We Love Colors Wednesday: Scarlet Red

You read it right, my friends! New outlook, new feature! Wednesdays are going to be my days to feature sweet legs and my lovely sponsor, We Love Colors!

skirt (worn as tube dress): Thrifted
blazer: Thrifted and birthday gifted by Rochelle
scarlet red tights: c/o We Love Colors
booties: Payless
teal bead and chain necklace: Body Shop
teal belt: Old Navy

You guys know how much I love the combination of red and teal, right? It's unexpected, but so classic at the same time. There was a Tiffany blue/ruby craze in the wedding biz a few years ago, and perhaps my love of the combo stems from buying every wedding magazine featuring the colors for inspiration (AFTER I was married). I'm definitely considering doing this scheme in a room at our house. Hubs will be on board, because he loves me and I'm awesome.

Also, in case you were wondering how awesome Hubs is, he stopped by work to pick me up in the parking lot on his way home this morning. He took my pictures AND saved me from the freezing rain. What a lover, right? Then (just when I thought I couldn't love him any more), he tweeted this:
"Taking pics of @FashionMomma22 brings back great college art memories and how fun it is!"
I love that man.

Just in case you're missing Little S., she taught me what a pentafoil is last night.
A PENTAFOIL.
Do you know what that is?
Also, we took her potty seat to dinner last night and she used it before AND after eating at the restaurant!!!

For all you lovers of pretty things, please check out my friend's mom's Etsy shop, Doe Run Jewelry! Each piece is handmade and no two items are exactly alike. I'm so excited to see where the shop goes!
There just may be a Doe Run Jewelry giveaway in the nearish future!
Get pumped and start telling me what your favorites are!

The lovely Ariana of FATale Fashion tagged me in the Handwriting Tag!

4. Favorite quote
5. Favorite song
6. Favorite bands/singers

8. tag some other bloggers!

This is my version:

And the last (but certainly not least important) order of business for Sunday is that sweet, sweet Emily of Emilina Sassperina gave me the Versatile Blogger Award! If I award this to you, I'm sorry, but I can't grab the award button from Emily's blog. Maybe you'll have better luck?

If awarded the Versatile Blogger Award, you should link back to the person who gave it to you, write seven facts about yourself, and award seven other lovely bloggers!

Here we go!

1. Becoming a mother is quite literally the BEST thing that's ever happened to me.
2. I follow all of the American Idol 2011 contestants on Twitter.
3. I may or may not (but probably do) dabble in a bit of singing, myself.
4. I am NOT a morning person and have no clue how I manage to smile for my blog photos before work.
5. I'm addicted to sleep.
6. I honestly had no idea people that I was funny, until about two weeks ago.
7. My biggest goal in life is to raise happy, healthy, engaging, loving children, who grow up with a thirst for knowledge, reciprocal relationships, and will let me move in when I can no longer wipe my own behind.

I pass this blog award to:

Have a wonderful remainder of the weekend!

Through Your Rose Colored Glasses

OUCH!
That's what my eyes feel like, when I look at these pictures.
So, I'm sorry for making your eyeballs hurt, because yes, they are overexposed and blurry.
This, my friends, is what happens when I'm left to my own photography. EVEN with the good camera. Blaming the photographer again...

Thank you, everyone, for all of your sweet "feel better" tweets, yesterday. I know they helped me! Not ONLY was Miss Monthly P trying to kill me, but I also was suffering from some possible virus or food poisoning symptoms... Then again, maybe my P just hates me THAT much. I have a ton of catch-up work to do, today, since I missed work, yesterday. No bueno.
But make sure you head over to our Fab Fashion Bloggers Rockin' Weight Loss yahoo group to get some awesome menu ideas! I'm headed there to add my weekly menu, in a few minutes!

plum rosette neckline top: LOFT outlet
plum cardigan: Eddie Bauer outlet
floral skirt: thrifted and gifted from Rochelle
brown skinny belt: New York & Company
fuchsia tights: c/o We Love Colors
brown pointed toe flats: Lela Rose, gifted from Whitney

I didn't get a chance to take a photo of Little S., this morning. But I promise to take one this afternoon and post it either on Facebook or here. She and I have matching tights, today! She said, "Momma! Pink tights, too!" So.Freaking.Cute.

Blah zeh, today, huh? Just look at my outfit and get psychadelic. It'll make this whoooole post a lot more interesting. I promise.
