Girly Things

If you didn't know, I make little baby stuff. Necessities like burp cloths, receiving blankets, nursing covers, nursing pads, etc... can be found in my shop, Bitty Bug Designs. I also make newborn, child, and adult headbands. I just completed the cutest dang order, ever, and had to share!

One for fun, one for Thanksgiving, and one for Christmas. Stinking fluffy and adorable.
If only my kids would wear headbands...
The best thing about this order was that it was for a friend from high school's new baby girl! I love reconnecting over sweet little baby girls and pretty things! Hope you guys get to enjoy them!

Shoot me an email at bittybugdesigns@gmail.com or post a comment/message on the Bitty Bug facebook wall to place your holiday orders!

Mmm Monday - Pizza

On Friday, I wanted pizza so badly. But, I didn't want to pay for it or eat crap. So, I made my own! Little S doesn't dig stuff on her pizza, so I made 1/3-ish cheese just for her and Husband and I shared the rest. I made the sauce, too! YUM.
The grown-up side is mozzarella with grape tomatoes, mini sweet peppers, banana peppers, feta and oregano. Flavor fireworks. Yep.

You Knotty Barbie

Errands called for a bit more than my sparkly star jammie pants today. Not much more, but an upgrade to jeans, nonetheless. Clearly, I'm not a Barbie, but you get it, right? One of these days, I won't share my laundry line and I'll figure out the settings on my camera, but today isn't that day.
sweatshirt and tank: Old Navy, jeans: Charlotte Russe, shoes: TOMS
I'm loving this messy knotted bun! Just pull your hair up in a ponytail at the desired height (mine fell a bit throughout the day, so this is lower than I'd planned), tie your pony in a knot, and secure with a few bobby pins. Super easy, functional and sort of cute, even!
Hope everyone's weekend is going well!

Feeling Blue

Not really, actually. It's the first day of the Holiday Season and I'm hyped up! If you've been a long-time reader, you know I'm one of those annoying people who believe that Thanksgiving is in the Christmas season and I start playing Bing's "White Christmas" on November 1. I love celebrating Thanksgiving, giving thanks, and teaching my little one(s) about thankfulness and the first Thanksgiving. However, I think Christmas music, colors, decoration, and the TRUE MEANING of the day is so joyous and happy that I want to draw it out as long as I can. I can't blame me.
In other news, I got dressed again. Two days in a row? I think I need an applause. I didn't even know that I'd be going anywhere except to drop S off at school, but I ended up hanging out with a friend and going to lunch with her and all of our kids. Not that I'd ever have ANY kind of problem going places in yoga pants and a sweatshirt. I do it all the time. But even if I'm not looking my best, there's something to be said about the outlook of my day correlating with the effort I put in to get dressed in the morning.
Apparently, this is how I look when I'm trying to figure out the timer on my camera... Cute.
sweater: Old Navy, tee: Target, jeans: Old Navy, shoes: from Whitney
Why do people look down/away from the camera for blog pictures? I think I need to learn some posing skills. I'm totally out of practice and don't think I ever knew how to do it, before.
Glad to be back! My glamorous life (ahem, crying baby and laundry) calls!

Check out an awesome giveaway at my friend, Alida's, blog for her gorgeous Nautical Diva tee! Ends tomorrow, so go NOW!

Trick or Treat!

Trick: No one knew who I was tonight.
Treat: Because I actually got dressed in something other than sweats...
shirt: Old Navy, skinnies: Charlotte Russe (OMG, they FIT!), boots: Soda
Trick: The girls had about four layers of clothing on.
Treat: Little S. was the most gorgeous Princess Aurora, curls and all. Bean was the sweetest little cuppycake with sprinkles and a cherry on top!
From our family to yours, we hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween!

Fake Out Pasta... Mmm

Spaghetti squash is my new best friend. With the look and versatility of pasta, but more health benefits, I'm sold. Also, I thought the crunchiness would turn me off, but it's actually super satisfying! If you're a texture person, like me, you might have to get over it to love it. Did you know that feeling and hearing your food crunch actually sends a signal to your brain that you're full and satisfied? S didn't dig the crunch. She said my noodles were gross. I'll try it again next week, but she did eat the sweet potatoes, grapes, and bananas I served her with dinner. She opted out of the squash and had yogurt, instead. Poor kid... having to endure all these dietary changes. She'll thank me, later. I hope.
Have you faked out your family with food before? Veggies in place of meat or the like?

Lunch for Days

I've been fully vegetarian for 11 days and I'm feeling really great. The transition was a little difficult, but only because I forgot! I would be making something for Husband and S and go to take a taste and remember, "Oh, I'm not eating that! Hah!" It's been easy to eat this delicious salad every day for lunch, though. I'm having a serious love affair with banana peppers, so I don't even use dressing. I just put a tablespoon of the banana pepper juices over this beauty and enjoy!
Mixed baby greens, red bell pepper, carrots, banana peppers, and low fat crumbled feta
Yummmm!
When you're in a rush, what's your go-to lunch?

New Fabrics at Bitty Bug Designs!

Self promo? Sure thing! I've had a serious case of the Mondays, today. I didn't even know SAHMs had "Mondays." This morning, S fell asleep in the car on the way to school, leading up to a tantrum in the drop-off line. Awesome. Then, I headed to the ever-dreaded Walmart, begrudgingly had to nurse Bean in the bathroom, changed her diaper, which resulted in two poops and a change into the third and last diaper I packed for the trip. Shopping commenced and after standing in the checkout line for fifteen minutes, unloading my goods onto the conveyer belt, I realized that my card AND checkbook were on my desk... at home. I unloaded the conveyer belt and repacked my cart, left it at customer service, and carried my screaming infant to the car. There, I realized she blew out of her *last* diaper AND jammies. She rode home completely naked, sitting on a receiving blanket that I laid in the car seat. Eventually, when I returned to Walmart, I had to get new milk and coffee creamer, which took me right past crafting supplies. Face palm. I totally spent way more money than I intended.
Awesomesauce.
In celebration of my fabulous Monday, I am going to share the new fabric stock in my shop, Bitty Bug Designs. Check them out, like my page (please), and buy stuff! Mama's gotta make some money to fund the bills!
Anyone else have a bad case of the Mondays, today?
I hope not!

Weeks in the Life

There have been a few times over the last two weeks that I've walked past the computer and said to myself, "I don't think I'm going to blog anymore." I've been through this before. I didn't know where my passion went or what the purpose was. I used to find SO much joy in sharing my outfits and being creative with my wardrobe. My priorities and focus have changed and I still don't know where I'm going with all of this. But I do know that when I don't blog, I miss it. So, thank you to the readers who are still around and "Hi!" to the newbies who've found me recently. Bear with me while I figure it out.
For now, this is what's been up!

I've taken up cooking. I mean, I cooked before, but now I'm super into it. I've been trying my hand at some new and different recipes. This one is pork pasole. Mmm. We'll discuss pork at a later time.
Husband turned 29 on September 25th and bought himself the iPhone 5 the week before. Because I couldn't get another gift, S and I decided to bake a cake and surprise him when he got home from work.
... and he was super surprised. :)
S saw these car flags after a photoshoot we did with some friends over the weekend and said, "Go Redskins!" I thought my brother would be proud!
Here's some delicious cider chicken (ahem) with a side of rice, broccoli, and mini sweet peppers.
Like my awesome edit job? Don't wanna show the goods on the ol' interwebs. Here are the girls on one of my lazy nights when I didn't want to do two entirely separate baths. Gosh, I love them.

Join me as I work toward a vegetarian diet! If you're interested, ask me and I'll write about why and what I plan to eat. Otherwise, I'm still figuring out where the blog needs to go as far as focus/direction. Thanks for your patience!
