Today's topic for Fashion Beauty Friend Friday is Beauty Products.
I have to admit, I'm definitely more into clothing and accessories than products, but as the days pass, I get more and more interested. I'm especially a fan of anything that will accentuate my blue eyes and long eyelashes.

Adorablogger who IS preggers, though? ANDIE!

skinnies: Charlotte Russe
blue bow flats: Gap (from Whitney)
gorgeous, sparkly necklace: Banana Republic (Christmas gift from ML!)

What's your favorite drug store makeup product and your favorite higher-end product?
Well, I don't use many high-end products, just because I'd rather spend my "fun" money on clothes! So, most of my make-up is from the drug store, Target, or WalMart. I have to say that I'm a huge believer in
My favorite high(ish) end product is definitely my Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey. It's so buildable and goes on sheer, just like a tinted gloss. If you keep layering, though, it gives your lips a soft, beautiful, berry stain. I have to definitely give a big shout-out and THANK YOU to Louise, of Coffee & a Cardigan, for suggesting this product to me. I'm a lifer! I was SO afraid to wear lipstick until this one!

Is there one type of product that is your go-to, can't live without?
YES! I'm addicted to face cleanser. Am I so weird, or what? Wait... don't answer that. While most women don't leave the house without their lipstick, gloss, or mascara (and trust me, mascara and C.O. Bigelow's methyl lip shine are definitely close to tie for second), I ALWAYS have some sort of skin cleanser or oil blotter with me! I have seriously oily skin, so I really like oil blotters, like the ones from Clean & Clear. They help control and mattify without taking make-up off, which I really appreciate. I also swear by Estee Lauder's Perfectly Clean Splash Away Foaming Cleanser. It's changed my life.

What's the best hair product you've ever used?
I use Avon's ADVANCE TECHNIQUES Daily Shine Dry Ends Serum every.single.day. I curl, straighten, or blow dry my hair at least every other day, and this stuff is a smoother, anti-frizzer, softener, and shiner upper all in one. Love it!

Fess up, what's the worst beauty look you've tried to rock and look back at now with a little shame or apprehension that you actually did that?
Fess up, what's the worst beauty look you've tried to rock and look back at now with a little shame or apprehension that you actually did that?
Umm.. white eyeliner. Oopsie. When I was a cheerleader in high school, all the Varsity girls wore white eyeliner.ON the TOP lid.Well, at least I thought I was cool. In all reality, I think I looked like a sick little monster. Ahh, retrospect is a beautiful thing.

When it comes to beauty products, we all use the same basic products. What do you use that helps show off your personal flare and personality?
I am really basic with beauty products. In the shower, it's shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. I use the skin cleanser I mentioned above, and my make-up is generally very simple: a little blush, some gloss or lipstick (if I'm brave that day), eyeshadow, and mascara. The one thing I really do like to play around with is eyeshadow. I like to come up with different combinations, highlights, accentuate my crease, and play with colors that accentuate my blue eyes and yellow flecks around my pupils! I always try to make sure, if I don't have time for make-up, that I at least wear mascara. I'm thankful for my long, flirty lashes, and I never want to discount their ability to make me look awake, even if it's a fib.
Don't forget, friends! You have until MIDNIGHT, tonight, to enter my giveaway!
And then have a WONDERFUL weekend!
The polka dot top is ADORABLE! The white liner comment made me smile, I have never seen someone wearing white eyeliner on the top lid! Well my makeup in secondary school was a total fail.
ReplyDeleteThanks, girl! Yes, the white liner was definitely not becoming. I wear it on my waterline sometimes, to make my eyes look brighter. But never, EVER on the top lid. Oy...
ReplyDeleteAhhhh I am so in love with how your blog has been changing! Remember the good ol' days of posing in the living room? You look so beautiful (thanks to all your beautify products?) in these pictures!
ReplyDeleteAhhh!!!! Thank you! BEST COMPLIMENT EVER!!! :)
ReplyDeleteyou are so lucky to have long lashes! mine are short and sad. i really want to try that clinique almost lipstick. i am scared of lipstick (it always makes me look clownish) and that product sounds great!
ReplyDeleteGirl, you will LOVE the almost lipstick. I couldn't imagine spending a
ReplyDeletewhopping $14.50 on lipstick, but I'm so glad I did. I've had it for 4 months
and have barely made a dent in it! And you really can make like 5 shades
from it! Also, a lengthening and thickening mascara that I also use when I
go out is Maybelline Falsies! It would probably do wonders for your shorter
lashes!
Hi Kimberly! LOVE the polka dot top on you and those precious blue shoes! And I agree, you have BEAUTIFUL long eyelashes! I must try this Maybelline Falsies you mentioned below, I need all the help I can get in that department! :) LOL Have a wonderful weekend, lovely! xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteThanks, Trish! :) I never know if anyone can actually see my eyelashes on
ReplyDeletethe computer screen!
Love the polka dot top with the blue shoes! I haven't worn make up in many moons, but my favorite face wash is Dr. Wood's lavender castile soap with black soap and shea butter -- love it. My acne is better, and I swear my wrinkles are smaller. I buy it at vitacost.com. I've been thinking about starting my own blog about gluten free, natural/organic food and products, bargains, and all things Dori. Maybe I will; if not I'll at least "put it on the list..."
ReplyDeleteahhh, black honey - it's a gateway drug that lippie! I am in love with this outfit especially the blue shoes.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Andrea! My tootsies are chilly, though! :)
ReplyDeleteHey, I rocked the white eyeliner too. And looking back...no, it didn't look good. But it was THE in thing ;)
ReplyDeleteOH my goodness!! I LOVE this outfit, everything about it! The colors are fabulous, the blazer fits you so well, I have a long love affair with polka dots and these multi colored ones are so cute. And the shoes - OH THE SHOES! Home run :)
ReplyDeleteps, and can we talk about your location? Soo pretty!
You are TOO sweet, girl!!! WOW. Thank you! Of course, husband scouted out
ReplyDeletethe locale!

ReplyDeleteYou did rock the skinny jeans
ReplyDelete(PS. I am about to run between this rain so I'll actually read this post later in case you are wondering why my comment is based on your twitter and possibly not the words in this post.)
don't get sick in that rain!
ReplyDeletethanks so much, girl! :)
ReplyDeleteKimberly! I posted a comment on your blog! First time ever! (first time with the textured tights today, looks like it's a day of firsts!)
ReplyDeleteSo instead of spending money on those little Clean and Clear oil blotting sheets, just use the toilet seat covers from public bathroom stalls! I know it sounds gross, but stick with me. They're free, they're made of basically the same stuff, and there is a never ending supply of them! To tell you ya truth, they work better for me than those little blue sheets did, and you can use both sides! I have a little coin purse in my bag and when I run out, I pick one up from the bathroom at work, rip it up into little pieces, and no one knows the difference when you use them in public! Maybe TMI, maybe not, but heck, if it saves money, we know I'm all about it!
I'm so glad you love Black Honey! It obviously loves you too.
ReplyDeleteI love you, girl!!!
ReplyDeleteIve gone though so many tubes of Voluminous! Great mascara.
ReplyDeleteawww thanks for the sweet shoutout! :)
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with your pick for mascara
ReplyDeleteOut does many high end mascaras
